Profile
About: With a commitment to providing opportunities for social and economic empowerment, YouthBiz serves over 325 middle and high-school students each year. YouthBiz’s programs incorporate three core elements...
BUSINESS: The question “what do I want to be when I grow up?” starts here. Youth explore jobs of interest, develop fundamental business skills, focus on entrepreneurial activities, create business plans, and outline long-term career goals.
ACADEMICS: Success at school is achieved by bridging each youth’s current interests and actions with long-term outcomes. Youth learn skills that support their academic lives – computer fundamentals, communication and public speaking, financial literacy, and decision-making – and equip them with lasting transferable skills.
LEADERSHIP: Good leadership takes practice. Youth become critical thinkers, learn peaceful conflict resolution skills, problem solve around community needs, and gain an understanding of the importance of volunteerism and community investment.
What makes YouthBiz programs unique? • Peer-to-Peer Learning • Hands-On, Real-World Experience • Transferable Job and Life Skills • Incentive-Based • Social Responsibility
Why We
In addition to preparing youth for their future by teaching them about career opportunities and skills, Youthbiz actually provides hands on job experience. Through YouthInk, at-risk youth get a chance to work in a high quality screenprinting business. From selling the product, to fulfilling an order, to relating with vendors, youth learn the skills they will need in future jobs. -Katherine Bilby
